The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Centrica. I worked as a group financial accounting analyst in Group Finance. I was able to take on a surprisingly large amount of responsibilities and was also given individual projects to work on. Overall, it was a great experience and I learned a lot about the company and industry.
Everyone is very nice and helpful, and I felt like a part of the team from the start. The tasks I performed would have been done by someone else in the team if I wasn't there, and I also added value by improving and creating some processes.
My manager was very nice, he explained things really well and was also very patient. He provided me with good guidance but also gave me opportunities to be creative.
It depends on the day. I was very busy during the interim reporting period and July month end, and also had a few late nights. But the experience was amazing, plus you get food from deliveroo too! Things start to quiet down after the interims, but I still had my individual projects to work on, and there was never a time when I had nothing to get on with.
Lots. I assumed ownership of a few checks and financial controls during the reporting periods. I was also able to work independently and contact other parts of the business for information. I was given the opportunity to work on my own projects, which will also add value to the team.
I developed a more in-depth understanding of financial reporting and accounting, which will help with my study. I also develop some soft skills, such as self-management and business communication, which I think will help me in the long term.
The Company
It's very relaxed and everyone is very nice and friendly.
The placement was very organised.
We received a presentation trading and excel training, which were both very informative. But learning on the job and working with the team probably helped me more, in terms of personal development.

Very appealing. The company operates in a very interesting industry, and has a great culture. I really enjoyed the placement and the graduate programme also seems very good.
The Culture
Yes, we were put in the same accommodation, which created a really good social scene for us.
The company provided accommodation so I didn't have to pay rent, which is amazing. But overall it is about the same as London, so not cheap.
Nightlife in Windsor is okay and London isn't too far either.
There were lots of charity events and activities that interns were able to be involved. We also came up with our own charity event ideas, which were very fun.
