The Role
The internship was a fantastic and memorable experience which I am confident will last me a lifetime. The culture of the firm and the service line really heightened my enjoyment levels.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. I was lucky to be given meaningful tasks that helped contribute to the overall audit process. My colleagues would arrange catch ups with me to ensure I knew what each task required and provide support.
My colleagues were absolutely fantastic. In a regular basis my senior would constantly check up on my to see if everything was going well. If I had any questions no matter how silly they were, I was able to reach out to my colleagues. Everyone was supportive and easily approachable.
For the majority of the internship I was kept fairly busy. I would normally receive tasks from various seniors and managers. However, on quite a few occasions I was going out and asking for work and there were times where I had very little to do which was unfortunate.
I believe I was given a fair amount of responsibility. I was given access to confidential clien information where I had the chance to analyse data and upload these spreadsheets online. I also completed a range of different audit procedures that were relevant in the overal audit process.
Time management, collaboration, and communication are skills I have definitely enhanced whilst being in the internship and I believe this is vital when going into my final year at Univeristy. The training wasn’t too great as there was no service line training prior to the internship.
The Company
I absolutely loved the office atmosphere. Everyone was really friendly and easily approachable. I had the chance to sit next to a partner who ended up chatting to me which was a personal highlight. The atmosphere and culture really signifed EY’s USP.
The internship was not very well organised. I was actually unassigned during my last week and had to liaise with the operations team to find out which engagement I would be working on.
The firm invested a lot in interns. EY offer a host on free online learning sources to help their people develop and grow. This helped me learn more about the finance industry and how EY strive towards building a better working world.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing. Chances of a procuring a graduate job after the internship is high and once on the graduate scheme, EY offer fantastic support and development through a highly recognised professional qualification that give their people the skills and knowledge to thrive.
The Culture
Not really. I don’t think I have even met all the interns in my service line. I had to go around and send invitations to all the interns for after work drinks. I think it would have been better if there were mor frequent events getting the interns together.
I lived family so I did not pay any rent: however food is extremely expensive and definitely are away at my salary. However, that’s London for you....
Canary Wharf is not renowned for its nightlife hence the rating. There are definitely other places in London though where the nightlife is a bit more lively.
There were hardly any opportunities available outside work. My counsellor enabled me to accompany her on a social where I was able to meet new people, however in general I think there should have been more activities outside of work.
