The Role
I enjoyed the internship to a large extent, it was a great exposure to financial services, client sites and the EY culture. I feel I learned a lot and met lots of great people who made the experience much more enjoyable.
I felt like a valued team member on most jobs, as they made sure to explain tasks and include me in non work related chat
Regular contact with my buddy and counselor as well as support from managers on all jobs who were happy to explain things and answer questions
Dependent on the job. Some days I was kept fairly busy all day but there were quite a few days where I was given very little to do.
I was surprised at the responsibility given - speaking with clients and performing tasks with little direct supervision
Unlikely to directly relate to my degree but has certainly given me greater confidence and understanding of the working world
The Company
Most of the time the atmosphere was upbeat and very relaxed. It was a quieter period for the office so there was less stress and long hours than earlier in the year which certainly helped! Lunchtime table tennis, greggs sausage rolls and takeaway pizzas definitely helped create this friendly culture.
There was a strong organisation throughout, from the induction and CSR days in London organised by the Summer internship teams to the work I was given in the office, which was tailored around my travel needs. Contact with managers, counsellors and the summer internship team was well organised and communicated.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Completing the internship has put me in a strong position for a graduate role and it is certainly a career I would consider far more carefully than I had done 6 weeks ago.
The Culture
Regular office wide events with a decent budget are organised, although the location of the office (a Luton business park) is not particularly helpful in this respect and turnout tends to be quite low (15-20)
Luton itself is relatively cheap although social events often happen in london, which is more expensive
A business park in Luton just off the airport parkway...
There were opportunities to attend and organised social and charitable events
