The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at EY. This was my third placement here as I was on the scholarship programme and absolutely loved it. From the helpful people to the challenging but interesting work, I felt like I've gained a lot from this internship. I hope to come back again!
Despite being an intern I felt incredibly valued by my team. I was given a suitable amount of responsibility giving me the opportunity to push myself. The atmosphere at EY is amazing and I felt welcome to the team and also to the company. I felt as if I was doing important work and making an impact.
The support framework that exists is amazing. My informal point of contact (my buddy) was incredibly friendly and welcoming and my counsellor helped me to create and achieve my goals. Generally everyone is approachable and willing to help and my team took the time out to explain things to me and give me guidance.
My team was based on client site, which meant that at times we were incredibly busy and pushed for deadlines. Despite this, the team understood that I was an intern and never expected me to stay too late. There is a good work/life balance split at EY and it definitely resonated throughout the internship.
As an intern it is often quite hard to be given a high level of responsibility, however I was given the opportunity to take on a reasonable amount. Being on client site I was exposed to clients and also had the opportunity to take lead on certain things. I definitely felt as if I was making an impact.
I come from a scientific background and the team and the project that I worked in aligned to that. So I was able to improve and develop new skills such as programming and problem solving. I also got the opportunity to develop soft skills in the workplace which will most definitely help me in the future.
The Company
As I was mainly on client site I did not spend much time in the EY office. The canary wharf office is absolutely amazing and the hot desking atmosphere makes it enjoyable. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and it is easy to chat to anyone who is available and nearby.
The internship was organised quite well. As you can imagine, it must be hard to coordinate a large event as such without any issues so there are bound to be little hiccups along the way. Despite this there was great communication throughout and very easy to access information if required.
It is quite hard to get formal training in a short amount of time however I feel the company invested a lot in terms of providing us access to online learning courses. The team were also great in providing training on the job and also setting time aside to answer any questions.

Hopefully this gets converted to a graduate offer!
The Culture
The atmosphere amongst the intake is fantastic. We were given the opportunity to network initially and bond over work and several events were organised in order to make this happen. There are a lot of opportunities to connect with others and there is an end of internship event which will be fun.
Being in London the cost of living and travelling is a lot higher than elsewhere but the remuneration package definitely helps. The social atmosphere in London is fantastic, there is a lot to do and a lot to see, so it is a fantastic place to be an intern for the summer.
Being in London the nightlife is amazing. There is always something happening and during the summer there are a lot of pop ups which provide great entertainment for after work activities. Throughout the internship the team took us out on several occasions and there were organised events for all the interns too.
The internship began with a corporate social responsibility day and we are given into the volunteering aspect to EY. I also managed to get involved with one of the many networks at EY allowing me to connect with different people and get involved in an event outside of the work.
