The Role
Really enjoyed it, it was a great learning experience and a real insight into the working world. It was very social and there were lots of opportunities to connect with colleagues.
Colleagues always had time to explain things and help when needed. They were very understanding of my situation and made the process a lot more fluid. We also had socials each week that gave me a chance to get to know them on a deeper level.
While there is no formal training, all work is given with an educational intro, and so theres adequate guidance and ample opportunity to ask questions.
Fairly busy, if you are proactive and ask for work then there is always opportunity to be busy. Granted there are periods when you are waiting on the client for documentation, and so that be a period of waiting. Otherwise I would say there is certainly opportunity to ask for work on downtime.
There’s a lot of responsibility from day one, along the same channels as if you were in the role full time. You complete work and have it reviewed by managers, with any corrections noted and returned to you. I took part in conference calls and client meetings across this internship.
Because my degree does not carry over to accounting and finance (history), I would not say the practical skills will assist my degree studies. However, I would certainly say it has improved my work ethic and the importance of work life balance.
The Company
Friendly, social and easy going. A typical working environment.
Good structure, I was always aware of what I was meant to be doing, where I was meant to be, and the calendar system makes the logistics all very easy.
There’s no formal training, but colleagues always take time to explain tasks and processes to you.

Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, if given the opportunity I will certainly take it up.
The Culture
Yes Friday drinks were arranged each week, with older grads always very pro active in getting us involved.
Bristol is becoming increasingly expensive so quite high. It didn’t effect me as I was staying in my university house for the coming year, but from the other interns I’ve heard short term let’s were expensive.
Very good, Bristol doesn’t need to justify itself.
Yes, but I was always too tired to take them up.
