The Role
I enjoyed my experience at EY overall. I met a lot of great, like minded people and developed my skills. I felt as though I was able to add value to the project that I was working on on a daily basis.
As mentioned in the previous answer, I felt that I was able to add value every day I was in the office and this was mentioned in my feedback. Therefore, I feel that I was valued by my colleagues.
The project I was working on during the entirety of my 6 weeks internship was very intense and hectic. Therefore, my line manager was very busy a lot of the time. However, he gave me guidance when he could. My counsellor was very helpful whenever I had a question for him too.
Every day varied but in general I was kept busy during the internship. I had the daily responsibility of maintaining and updating some of the trackers the team were using. On a busy day, of which there were many, this would take up a lot of my time. On less busy days, I was always able to help create meeting decks for the client or help out in some other way.
I was responsible for some of the trackers used by the team. This was important as traceability was a key success factor in this project in particular. I was also able to create slides that were presented to the client as part of a meeting deck.
I was able to develop my Excel and PowerPoint skills which I am sure will prove extremely useful going forward. I also learned a lot about client interaction from working in a tense and sometimes hostile environment on client site.
The Company
The EY team I was working in were able to make the best of a difficult situation. In general, the atmosphere between the team and the client was tense.
I think that the internship was well set up in the sense that I was placed on a project from day one and was kept busy throughout. I also had numerous ports of call to whom I could reach out if I had a question.
The internship was paid and so that is obviously an investment from the firm. However, the firm also invested time in me. People were always willing to explain things to me about how different parts of the business operate and how to overcome challenges.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with EY and a position on the grad scheme would be very appealing to me if I was offered one.
The Culture
Being on client side the whole time and working slightly different hours to some interns made things slightly more difficult. However, thankfully the client I was working with were located very near EY and so I was able to meet up for drinks after work with other interns after work on some days. I also went for drinks with my team a couple of times which was good. The official EY intern events were fun too.
I lived at home during my internship and so didn’t have to pay for rent and had meals at home when I wanted them. Drinks and lunch in Canary Wharf can be expensive though.
Bars in Canary Wharf were very lively most evenings. There are nice restaurants and live music too.
Not as many as I would have liked working on client site.
