    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Initially I thought that my internship started out positive as I was thrown in to the deep end without any training and put into a client site. Afterwards it began to get boring and o realised assurance may not be the role that would suit me best in the future

    1/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I thought my Colleagues were exceptionally friendly and nice especially the senior managers and partners which I thought would be quite snobbish as they have a higher role. My buddy was extremely helpful and made the process much easier therefore I really did like this system ey had used for us SIPs

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I beleive we were given a good amount of advice from our line managers. They helped us and supported us through getting through the tasks efficiently. It also meant we learnt quite quickly and had a hands on experience which is usually rare for SIPs as they usually get menial tasks

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt that throughout the process when I was on my Client site that I was usually very busy and that I always had something to do however when I wasn’t assigned to a client I barely had anything to do and if I did the task could have been completed by a monkey

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt that compared to a work experience that I had previously that EY provided us interns with a lot of responsibility with our own laptops and being assigned loads of tasks to complete an audit on canvas and this was very surprising but also helped us learn a lot quicker

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • For me I study economics therefore auditing is completely out of my knowledge and comfort zone as it is more to do with accounting and finance. However the core skills from working in an office are as invaluable as having a degree therefore I feel the placement will be beneficial

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office seemed quite bubbly and everyone was bouncing off eachtoher which made working there much easier. On client sites the team members were really nice and everyone was working towards a common objective which made it easier to get along with eschtoher and succeed as a team

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt that my experience was not that well organised. I was only put on to one client during my 6 weeks and that only lasted for 2 weeks therefore for a lot of the time I was unassigned doing boring and menial tasks which hindered the learning process for me

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that EY didn’t provide me wit any training when I first got to the office but I was out straight to a client site whilst other interns got training. ThereforE I found it hard to intutally grasp the way the business works however my senior in the client site helped me develop Amit

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    Travel loan

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel that working for EY in the further would be something that would be of interest pervert I feel that something in consulting would be more ideal for me as I beleive I can offer a lot more to the company than if I was working within assurance team

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • During my time here at EY there were a few socials which I attended that were very fun. As a SIP, all the SIPs in Luton office gathered and had a chance to create our own social which went very well and was a lot of fun and made us all closer

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Working within Luton meant that socialising w as much easier as he office was very small as it is therefore there was more of a family fee. Expenses for getting food in the area is much heaped than it would be if we were within one of the London offices

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Due to the fact that we’re were based in the Luton office and I was commuting half an hour each day there was not much opportunity to go out after a long day at work as I was very tired and wanted to make sure that I was waking up feeling freshready to work hard

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As the Luton office isn’t out of London and majority of the workers are older and have families there wasn’t much opportunity to get involved in acivitieis outside of work with the team. However the hours were not too bad therefore I could have my own life aswell as have a working life
