The Role
I found the internship to be a great introduction into audit. Not only did it reinforce my decision to begin a career in fs audit but the internship allowed me to experience the unique, dynamic, people orientated culture. Being able to work on active projects and having a tangible impact on clients was something which made working at EY extremely enjoyable.
I had experience working on both a small team and a larger team. In both instances,my colleagues treated me with respect and were extremely inclusive for the duration of the projects. This allowed me to gain a deeper insight into life at EY and get to know my colleagues on a more personal level.
Although I tried to complete work independently, management was very willing to help when I did have questions. Any suggested improvements were communicated in a professional manner and explained to me in such a way that I could see a tangible difference in the quality of my work as improvements were made.
Throughout my internship I was provided with a steady workload that was not overwhelming but ensured I was active for the whole day. Some work was particularly challenging as I was coming from a relatively low knowledge base in terms of audit procedure. However this allowed me to gain as much knowledge from the internship as possible.
All the tasks I completed or worked on had tangible impacts on the client. This involved attending client meetings and interacting with clients on a daily basis making the work very diverse and enjoyable. The two projects I worked on had different objectives and so gave me a more rounded experience of what an audit career is like.
The internship helped improve my networking skills and team working skills in particular which I believe will prove invaluable through my final year of uni. The day to day set structure is also something I look forward to applying to general university life to see if there is a better balance.
The Company
The atmosphere was very vibrant, dynamic and mentally stimulating. This made working at the EY canary wharf extremely enjoyable.
Throughout the internship there was a clear structure in terms of co curricular tasks and also the general time table of projects. This made the whole internship experience more enjoyable.
Throughout the internship, the seniors in the respective teams I worked in were very willing and did spend time explaining the aims of the project and the different tasks. This not only increased my knowledge but allowed me to produce high quality work that met all objectives.

I found the whole experience to be extremely enjoyable and a great introduction into audit as a potential career path. As a result I look forward to hopefully joining EY in a more permanent role in the near future.
The Culture
I attended a number of socials with other interns as well as with my project team. These were very enjoyable and allowed me to get to know my colleagues on a more personal level making the work environment more dynamic.
As a student living in London I have gradually managed to work out a budget that allows me to live independently and have a healthy work- social life balance.
There was a relatively active nightlife however apart from going to a few socials throughout the internship I did not have much experience of this.
