The Role
The people I met and worked with were fantastic. It was impressive to see how professional they were as well as willing to help me. I received a lot of guidance and many opportunities to speak to different people. The project I was assigned to was engaging but vague at times. The skills I have acquired are very useful and will no doubt help me in the future.
The team were really helpful and insightful. But more importantly, they did not make me feel like an intern and provided me with meaningful work to do that was an important part of the project. They treated me like an integral team member and I feel like they valued me highly. They also gave me a leaving gift.
I had a lot of guidance and support systems around me. My buddy, counsellor and resource manager were all on hand to help me and give advice. My team members were always approachable to ask questions no matter how obvious the answer might have been. I was looked after very well.
I was busy to the extent there were tasks to be done at any point in time all the way up to the last day. However, many of these tasks were not pressing and at times I had to wait for feedback to come through before moving on to the next task.
The tasks that completed were important to the team but not so important that there was lots of pressure. I would have like to do more important work and things were more integral to the project however, being only around for 6 weeks meant that this was not possible all the time.
I believe the training and skills I have developed will help me in my future studies. Especially the design thinking aspect of my skills that I can take to my final year. The professionalism and skills i have gained in consulting will definitely help me for my future career in whatever I do.
The Company
I was located in EYSeren which was a unique office where the atmosphere was relaxed but full of creativity and buzz. The office had everything required for the type of project that we were working and everyone seemed very approachable and relaxed. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience of atmospheres in any other office.
The overall internship was very well organised and communication was really good. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was fantastic and very approachable whenever there was a query or problem. The whole recruitment team did a great job of organising and communicating during the program. The intern events were fun and I only wish that there were more of them.
I was able to learn and develop a lot by completing the bronze badge in Design Thinking which is a course provided by EY. The investment in development of young talent is encouraging.
Very appealing as I can see myself working for EY in the future and hope that I do at some point. Work/life balance seems to be decent for a top 4 firm.
The Culture
The social scene okay. I was hoping for a little more but it normally is down to the interns to organise instead of the company. The one mid-program social event we had was not attended by many due to time changes.
The cost of living due to commuting was very high and food around Shoreditch was expensive.
The nightlife in Shoreditch is excellent even though I didn't experience it too much during the program but know from past experiences.
There were a few events that I was able to attend but other than that nothing that really stands out too much in terms of access to other events.
