    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very interesting. Got a good insight into how the company works and the audit process. The internship was well organized to give exposure to a multitude of clients ranging in size and sector. There were plenty of opportunities to talk to employees for honest options of the company and work sector

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All members I interacted with were friendly and welcoming. Despite my inexperience would take the time to ensure I fitted comfortably into the team. I felt as though I was given worthwhile tasks and not just time wasting jobs to complete. The level of respect was suprising and ensured the internship was enjoyable

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers were very willing to explain each task and were fine with talking through issues that arose. There was an expectation that mistakes would be made which lead to a supportive atmosphere. Particularly at the start, tasks seemed very daunting and had lots of responsibility attached. This did however ensure fast learning

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At client sites there was always lots to do and the hours can be very long. Another major factor is the amount of travelling involved which can really extend the length of the working day. Other staff are more than happy to give you work to do as long as you ask.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • After the first couple of weeks, I was given tasks to do independently including discussions with the client. This gave a real insight into what the role involves full time and as a career. From the start, I had interactions with the client and was dealing with confidential data all the way through

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Professional skills in a work environment and working in teams with many different levels of management. The time management skills developed will be invaluable as I was constantly juggling doing lots of tasks simultaneously. This will allow me to be more productive during my final year and keep track of projects and other long pieces of work.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed was the general theme. People are very open to engaging in conversations about work and otherwise. They are more than happy to talk about their experiences and career paths. There are no real cut off groups which has a good working environment. All very light and a very good location

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The details pre internship were not very detailed and I was not 100 % sure about the itinerary. Once we arrived however all the internship was laid out in detail and the people we needed to talk to in the event of an issue. If there was nothing to do, there was a reasonable amount of dead time when not assigned to a client

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was more of a case of just doing a job day to day. During official events, there were some very well run ones. Personal development came mainly from the senior on the client and seemed random and very dependant on how they interacted with you. The counselling part was useful though

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • An offer on the grand scheme is a very good incentive post internship as sets up the final year of university being less stressful. Having a guaranteed job for 3 years and sponsorship on a professional qualification is very enticing. There is a lot of support in the future with others on the internship.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were lots of events for the office and across the service lines that we could attend. These were a very interesting time to socialise with the collegues. they were nice and relaxed with lots of opportunities to meet others across the office in level and service lines. All together very good

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
