The Role
I was pleased to find that I felt like a valuable part of the team. Within a week I was the sole owner of key documents and was positively contributing to meetings. I was given lots of opportunities to ask as many questions as I could think of, and could experience great breadth at EY
I was given responsibility immediately with documenting certain changes or processes. This allowed me to positively contribute to meetings and really encouraged a team atmosphere. By the end of the internship I felt like a fully integrated member of the team, this was supported by plenty of socials and team work
In the first week I was given a complete (breif) introduction to my particular service line. Later that day in a meeting I was able to see exactly where all the information that I had learnt was put into practice. At every opportunity I was encouraged to ask questions. Throughout the internship my supervisor was always happy to help! Lots of support!
Working closely in a team, we were all working together to achieve a mutual goal. This meant I could offer help wherever necessary and this meant on a daily basis I was very busy in meetings, discussions, and had my own work to be getting on with all with the support of my manager
I felt that I was given the right amount of responsibility. I was given plenty of freedom with my independent work - but at the end of each piece I would have the opportunity to review it with a senior. By the end of the internship I was seeing clients independently - a great responsibility!
I had no previous knowledge of my service line. We were given a big overview quickly and then throughout the internship I was building and deepening this knowledge continuously. I was thrown in at the deep end but ik the best possible way - very steep learning curve but the support throughout was constant
The Company
Really friendly. I was working in a tight group but had plenty of coffees with people in other service lines and disciplines. There was a general buzz around the office and a good atmosphere. I expected a battery farm environment but was really pleasantly suprised. It was an office you'd look forward to going.
Very established internship process - it felt very slick and we were constantly networking / learning. We had catch up events all through the 6 weeks and had plenty of people assigned to us individually who provided support and structure beyond do the framework of the internship. Plenty of contact and good structure.
We were invested in significantly. We were given the best laptops which some of the seniors didn't even have. We had all of the facilities to develop personally and the team around me encouraged development strongly through continual coaching and mentoring. As interns we took up a significant amount of time from the seniors which was particularly nice
I have only good reports to give back to EY. I came in sceptical and ready to learn and leave with a much greater impression of the company and service line. This leaves me in a position to reflect very possitivrly on the possibility of a graduate position with the firm.
The Culture
As a team we regularly went out with the client to nice meals and drinks. When someone left the team, the senior took us all out for lunch and drinks to say goodbye. Through constant interaction in and out of work environment - this made it a very sociable place to be
