The Role
The internship was structured in a way that is both informative and fun, with many social opportunities and activities to take part in. Both the social activities and the work itself was easy to get involved in, and always enjoyable.
The team that I worked with, my buddy, and my counselling manager always appreciated my efforts and the work that I provided. I was always thanked for my efforts, and assured that I was useful to the project.
The manager on the job of which I worked was helpful, understanding of my capabilities, and always willing to support me and extend my knowledge. My counselling manager was in regular contact with me to ensure that everything was running smoothly and that I had no issues.
There were times during the six weeks when I would complete all of my work. The team of the job I was working on didn't at the time have anything else to give me, and often had to ask for work for me to do from other jobs. This did however mean that I was able to work on the group CSR project that I took part in in these times.
Towards the end of the experience, I was communicating directly with clients and updating my seniors on the tasks which I had been left to complete, which often required co-operation from clients.
I already carried many of the core skills and knowledge for this job thanks to my degree. Most of the learning that took place was with regards to navigating software and the way that things run within the specific firm/team/job. I could see how beneficial the training for this internship and the learning curve for students who don't study a relevant subject at university would be.
The Company
A lot of time was spent out of the office and with clients, but the time that I had at the office was positive. I spoke to a variety of different people, all of different levels and all who had different experiences to discuss. I attended monthly drinks, and saw the fun social side of the office through all of the sporting activities that they get involved in.
I was always kept up to date with plans and arrangements. When I arrived on the first day, people were expecting me and knew where to send me. There was never any confusion and everything was set up well, with all people having the relevant knowledge for things to run smoothly.
The time invested in the training of the interns was high, as well as the financial investment in us to train us and send us on fun team activities and social events. The learning done on the job was a time investment from those on the job with me.

Company Parties/Events
The opportunity to gain a graduate role with the firm as a result of doing the internship is present from the beginning, and I look forward to hearing whether or not I have been successful.
The Culture
In our induction week, there were social events every night. The interns all took part, as well as grads from the office we were based at. There was always a positive and fun environment, and interns generally made additional plans to those put on by the company.
I was based in London, and so the cost of living here is likely the highest in the UK. Having said this, I am aware that salaries ranged between the interns depending on location, and this was in line with the living cost in the area of the office location.
I was in London - say no more! Although expensive, whatever the type of vibe you seek, you will find very close to the office, or a short distance away.
The first week was an induction week in which activities were laid on every night for us. Sporting events seemed common amongst the permanent members of staff.
