The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at BDO, I felt very welcomed into the company and felt like I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the company and the accountancy sector.
Considering I was only an intern I felt very valued by my colleagues throughout the internship as they gave me the confidence and support needed on all jobs I completed and also made it clear that they were grateful for any work I completed for them.
My counselling manager and buddy were constantly making sure that everything was going ok throughout the 6 weeks, this made my time on the internship much more enjoyable.
Mostly I was given word continually, but on some occasions I didn't have anything to do. I appreciate though that this is down to the internship not taking place in the busy season and also due to my limited knowledge and lack of experience/qualifications.
I was given a good level of responsibility throughout the internship given that I am just an intern. I was given more responsibility than I expected, I thought that this was a good thing as it made me feel like a valued member of the team.
I feel all the skills gained during the internship will help me in my future career wherever that may be. I think that this 6 weeks have helped me to realise that this is an area that I would like to work in, and also a company that I would like to work for in the future.
The Company
A very friendly atmosphere I was always included in everything that my colleagues did in and out of the office which made me feel like a value member of the team.
Very well organised, with a great welcome week in Birmingham to start followed by an enjoyable two days in the Baker Street office to end the internship.
It was clear that the firm had invested a lot in us during the 6 weeks, with socials every night in both Birmingham and London. We were also the opportunity to go the National Football Tournament that was open to the rest of the company.
Sports and Social Club
Very appealing, hopefully to be offered a job after a partner interview on the last day in the office.
The Culture
Great social scene in Birmingham, London, Manchester and also my local office.
