    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my internship at M&G. The work that the interns were provided with was interesting and as an intern I felt valued by the company and those working within it. The working atmosphere was inclusive and positive and I felt as though it was a very positive place to work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone working within M&G seemed to value the development and learning of the interns and I felt as though I could approach anyone for help and assistance. Despite the fact that many people had extremely busy schedules they were very willing to make time for the interns where they could.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was extremely engaged in my development and took the time to speak with me nearly everyday about what I was currently working on, what work I would soon be working on and how I felt I was doing. If I had any questions I felt as though I could always ask my manager via email or through a conversation depending on his schedule on a particular day.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On some days, depending on the demands on the business area I was working in, the workload could be particularly light or heavy. However, through reaching out to people in other business areas and asking for insights into what they do or were working on it meant that I was never stuck with nothing to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility I was given as an intern varied depending on the sensitivity of the task the team was working on at the time. However, I did feel as though the work I was doing was relevant to team and helped or assisted them in some way. I did not find I was given meaningless tasks to complete.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have gained will help me in my degree in terms of deciding what direction I would now like to steer my studies in. The internship as a whole allowed me to gain a greater understanding of my strengths and weakness and therefore, will allow me to know what I need to do to continue developing both.
