The Role
I got no work to do so it was very boring for me. I kept asking for something but no one was willing to give me anything. The first week was fun when we all went to Birmingham. Met lots of nice people and I was busy
Felt like they didn't want me around and I was ignores in the office a lot. If I did get work it was Always very easy and I did it in about 10 minutes when it was supposed to take me 2 hour. Was never asked if I wanted to go social with them.
I wasn't given much support. I spoke to my buddy a lot about how I could improves but aside from that I was given not much help from people even when I asked and said I had no work to do. I asked questions and got brief answers because they we're more interested about working then helping me
I was bored most days. Their was never really anything for me to do and when I got given tasks these were usually very easy so I spent a lot of days just watching the clock waiting until 5 30 when I could go back home. Going to clients was more fun.
I had no responsibility at all because it felt like no one trusted me to do a good job. I get that I am intern but I still want to learn and try hard and show people that I am good. I wish my in charges had given me more chance to shine bright .
I do accounts and financial at univeristy so the learning to do audits will help me a lot. As I had no work to do I spent a lot of time researching auditing and revising for my exams so this is good. I think it help me have better English.
The Company
No one spoke to me very much so that wasn't nice but the office in general was quite loud and cheery with everyone chatting to each other. At lunch I was left alone a lot because everyone eat at their desks because they were busy. I ate with other interns most days.
I enjoyed the first days in Birmingham a lot and the last days in London as these are very structured and I had things to do. The office work was poorly structured as I would be told at the last hour whether I would be at clients or in the office.
Did some training and that was not very useful. Asked my in charge managers lots of questions to get more information and they usually answered in a good way and gave me more information. Watched audit videos and did some exam revision stuff given by my managers and they would help me with that.
Big 6 company but seems to be less room for progression compared to other big accounting firms. Not many graduates employed in a year and there appeared to be a lot of people moving between firms. I would really like a job and to become top partner or director .
The Culture
Lots of time to socialise in London and Birmingham and I had lunch with the other interns most days but canteen food was expensive so I bright my own. I was not invited to any work colleague socials unfortunately and I was left out of conversations but apart from that everything was brilliant.
London so expensive
Don't use nightlife
Yes there was. In Birmingham we did go karts and escape rooms and in London we did boat party. Think you can volunteer with people if you want to but I was not given much information on that so I am not too sure. A lot of people socialised after work.
