The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience at M&G Investments, the companies great culture makes it a brilliant place to have an internship. Furthermore, there is a wide variety of networking events and other opportunities to learn about asset management, adding to the overall experience. The variety of work and exposure to different areas of the business further adds to this learning experience.
One of the great aspects of M&G is its collaborative culture, this paired with the support from the team you're in, allows you to produce a wide variety of different work. The work produced, in my experience, is always valued not only by the team you are based in but also the wider business.
The support I received throughout the internship was fantastic, my manager always took the time to explain concepts or ideas to me, furthering my understanding of the investment management industry. My wider team and manager were always willing to help assist me with the various projects I was working on and provide any additional guidance I may have required.
Overall, I was busy on most days. The level of work varied, but never became unmanageable. For almost all the days on the internship I had enough work to keep me busy and engaged and more importantly a good variety of work. On the couple of days in which I had less work to-do, I proactively sought out more from my manager and team, which they always provided.
I was given responsibility on many tasks and pieces of work during my internship, with an appropriate level of support from my manager and wider team. I was given enough freedom to approach the tasks as I believed was the best way to do so, with guidance from my manager and team, to allow me to fully engage with the work.
One of the greatest benefits to the internship was the amount that I learnt about investment management. We had insight sessions (into different areas of the business), presentations, networking events and several other opportunities to learn about the industry, this will certain aid my future career plans (of wanting to work in investment management).
The Company
One of the greatest aspects of M&G is its culture, immediately I felt welcome and everyone across the business is willing to engage with you and help in your understanding of M&G and investment management. The office environment is also great, as the company encourages a good work-life balance, further to this support is always available if needed.
The internship was very well organised. The insight sessions, networking and social events were all very well run and organised, helping make the experience more enjoyable. The team and more specifically the work which I was doing was well organised, as there was a good variety of work and opportunity to attend different meetings.
M&G invests heavily in its interns, from a perspective of learning we had insight sessions into different areas of the business. Many company wide (not internship specific) sessions are also run as an opportunity to learn about the changes within the company/industry. Further to this, there are many networking opportunities organised which provide a great way to learn about different roles within M&G.

At the end of the internship there is an assessment centre for the interns, this combined with your managers feedback (based on your internship), determines whether or not you are offered a place on the graduate programme. The graduate program provides good future employment prospects and a great way into M&G Investments.
The Culture
Throughout the internship many social events are organised including Pub Quiz's, Treasure Hunts, Table Tennis and many more. These provide a great opportunity to socialise with your fellow interns, to get to know each other outside the work space. In addition to this, there are other networking events arrange and available to attend to interact with you fellow colleagues.
The City of London is expensive, but all the events organised by M&G are free and usually include food/drinks. So whilst London is expensive, M&G helps by organising many events.
