The Role
Enjoyed a lot, worked in a great team and realised that banking industry is something I'd like to work in after the internship.
Efforts were always recognised and help was appreciated; projects were giving me responsibility.
Had weekly 121 meetings with Line Manager and phone catch ups with Mentor ('Buddy'); was always given detailed feedback on my progress and effort. Guidance also provided through objectives scorecard.
Occasionally had little to do due to waiting for relevant information to be submitted by colleagues, which was essential to proceed - however, most of the time was busy enough not to notice how time would fly. Wasn't overwhelmed with work either. Great work-life balance!
Was given enough responsibility to even doubt my own capabilities at first; however, later really enjoyed being in charge of my projects and still having support from colleagues if something was unclear.
Upskilled on Microsoft Excel, received training to help me in my final year of university education, developed soft skills such as leadership, confidence and communication skills. Feel like I've changed a lot throughout the internship.
