The Role
Highly enjoyable placement, met lots of students in my situation while working with top chemists
Felt welcome right from the start and always part of the team
Always on hand to help with any problems, big or small.
Always had jobs to do and was allowed to determine my own working schedule to get through the work efficiently.
Eased in slowly to the placement but when the staff trusted my skills the responsibilities increased.
Learnt more in a years placement than my three years at university.
The Company
Tight group and were always talking. Also allowed music in the lab.
Company knew what they were doing and had a weeks training sorted for us when we arrived.
Received a PDP to allow my supervisor and I to see how I had developed through the year.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Currently tight recruitment scheme but places will slowly open up in the next three years.
The Culture
Lots of students with diverse groups which made for a good social scene.
Area was cheap until you ventured into London.
Good pubs but clubs got repetitive after the first month. Close enough to London for lots of variety though.
Clubs and activities available around the town.
