The Role
I found this internship to be enjoyable to a large extent, however I did feel at times this enjoyment was limited due to some factors. In terms of enjoyment, the work that I did receive was thought-provoking and impactful which allowed a sense of accomplishment however at times boredom did creep in due to a somewhat quiet workload at times
I felt greatly valued by my colleagues throughout the entirety of the internship. From my line managers to other members of the team, to people in other areas and even other interns. I felt as though Lloyds had founded the internship based on a level of mutual respect, and created an environment in which an intern could feel equally valued to their counterparts.
Although a somewhat difficult answer to put into words, I do feel as though my line managers offered an extensive amount of support and guidance throughout the internship which was greatly helpful from beginning to end. However, at times, due to a quiet workload, I did feel as though I did not receive enough guidance in terms of over projecting myself with other tasks.
This is a hard question to answer since the work load changed week by week. Some weeks I found myself with a lot of work to do, and some I found I had impeccably little. I wouldn't say at any time there was a great balance of workload, and that it was always one extreme or the other
I feel as though I was given an extensive amount of responsibility on my internship of which I am greatly thankful for. From taking a somewhat leading role in a data handover, to the documentation and coaching of members of staffs new responsibilities, I feel as though my responsibilities extended what I believed an interns would.
I feel as though the skills I gained in my internship were not so much relevant to my degree studies so much as they are to help me with my future career choices. this internship gave me a taste of the professional working world and helped to show me about some areas of banking I am interested in, but more importantly some that I am not.
