    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my project work that ranged from business development to improving internal procedures. My colleagues involved me a lot in their day-to-day jobs, whilst at the same time constant Learning sessions ensured all interns learned about the different areas of the company and the business. We were also involved in a virtual Portfolio Challenge project in griups that involved creating a portfolio as a team and investing according to our determined strategy and benchmark.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I certainly met some great people from all across the firm and always felt like my work counted.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were constant feedback sessions and HR were always ready to help with anything. But remember that is is important to be proactive when it comes to these things as noone can help you untill you ask.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always enough work to do, but a culture of staying late for the sake of it does not exist at this firm. What counts is the quality of work you do.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My project work meant that I was my own boss when it came to such things, so was not responsible for anything but my own work. I can say now, being on the Graduate Programme at BlackRock, that my responsibilities are high but not stricking, and someone is always ready to help.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Better than company specific-knowledge, work like this develops quality skills like ability to handle your responsibilities, teamwork, generate ideas and many others.
