The Role
I enjoyed my placement with LBG. The people are lovely and always willing to help and show you what they do.
I was a bit shy at first and had some conflict with a fellow intern hence there were many times I didn't feel valued. My manager was a doll and really helped me see how much value I brought through my work.
We had weekly catch ups in place where my manager was really encouraging and always made sure I knew what I was doing and was happy with the work. My manager also asked me throughout what I wish to get out of the internship and helped me find relevant opportunities.
For some of the work I have been assigned it has been up to me to take initiative and there was always more I could do. I found that difficult at first due to not having had a job before so I found myself less busy at first.
I feel like the job I have would make no difference if no one was to do it.
I most certainly developed many skills this internship. Transferable skills such as team-working, organisational, communication etc. are skills that you can use anywhere and I can't stress enough how much I have developed as a person whilst being here.
The Company
I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere in the office. Everyone was super friendly and talkative. We spoke about Love Island and all sorts. Going into a new job is daunting but don't forget that we are all just people and enjoy having a nice chat.
My team was going through a restructure so it could have been a bit better organised in terms of pieces of work. That being said everything was set up and ready for when I arrived including a project I have been set and all access needed.
Development is really important here and I have been encouraged to take my time to do any training I wished, joined some outsource presentations, did shadowing and wrote a few blogs about my leanings on new innovations such as Open Banking. Resources are great and you should use them.
Working from home
I am still on a journey of self discovery. The company prospects and progression opportunities are really good however I am a bit uncertain if this is the right path for me.
The Culture
Lovely atmosphere ad social environment. Obviously there was not much time to get to know everyone but there is a good mix of apprentices, grads and interns/scholars and all employees are open and friendly to us all.
Costs are pretty good however I lived at home in Sheffield. There are all sorts put in place to help.
Super good, Leeds is a good night and there is something for everyone.
I visited a school, took part in volunteering and helped with Day - to -make - a -difference that consist of helping the community.
