The Role
I enjoyed my placement and thought it taught me some value skills that I can use in the business world, whichever path I take. However, I did feel as if there was not much for me to do at times and I could have covered the same tasks/material in fewer weeks.
I had a great experience with my colleagues, who were all very supportive and encouraging. I appreciated them taking their time to explain technical concepts to me and involve me in the jobs at hand. Their friendly approach made me a lot more relaxed and work harder. I was not scared to ask questions.
My line manager was very supportive and caring. She ensured that I was happy and understood what was going on at all times. However, I would have liked to be given a few more tasks to complete, as I felt as if I did not have much to do at times.
I found myself busy occasionally, but often felt as if I could have done more. I was kept busy with various tasks and online learning courses from the Central Internship Team; however, I would have liked to have more work to do within my business role. I did enjoy the flexibility of how to structure my hours working within the week!
I felt as if I was given suitable responsibility in my placement. I was given tasks to do that would make a difference, whilst still feeling that I was capable of the task. I did not feel as if there was too much pressure on my at any time during my Internship.
The culture of working in a business environment that I have experienced during my 10 week placement will be invaluable when I return to my degree studies and in the future. The independence and discipline that I have developed during my internship will be crucial for my future career in any field.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was positive and uplifting. My colleagues were passionate about their jobs and hard working. My colleagues wanted to do their best and it was a pleasant environment to work in. I was not afraid to ask questions and people took time to talk to me.
I found that my internship was a little disorganised and slow at times. When I arrived, there were a number of technical problems that I suffered and it took a long time for me to be set up/ have access to various programs on the computer. I did not receive my laptop until day 3 of my internship and felt as if many of my enrolment processes could have been more efficient.
The company displayed a clear interest in helping me develop personally during my 10 week internship at Lloyds Banking Group. I was provided with numerous online learning facilities and programs that focused both on my current role during my internship and general personal development and skills that I could transfer to many situations in my future.

National Travel
I have really enjoyed my internship and would like to return to the company after finishing degree studies back at university. However, I feel as if I could be more suited to a different role and area within the business. I like the Lloyds Banking Group's values and way of working.
The Culture
The social element between the other interns was very prominent. There were approximately 50 interns placed in Edinburgh whilst I was taking part in this Internship programme. This provided a great way to network and support each other. I was often not around during social hours (due to other commitments) but I believe people have made some long lasting friendships over the summer.
Lloyds Banking Group provided me with Edinburgh University student accommodation during my summer internship, which I was very impressed with. The cost of living/food was as expected in a city. As the Edinburgh Fringe festival was taking place for a number of weeks during my internship, this too was a wonderful experience.
I do not believe that I can give a true or accurate answer to this question as I did not have the time to enjoy the Nightlife in Edinburgh during my internship. I had prior commitments in the evenings and at the weekends, so I was unable to go out with the other interns during my internship. However, from what I heard, they had a great time and really enjoy Edinburgh's Nightlife.
The other main activity that I took part in during my internship, was the LBG's Helping Britain Prosper Charity Challenge, where all Interns are allocated into teams to raise funds for Mental Health UK. This enabled me to meet more of my colleagues in a different environment and added diversity to my day. I also attended a tour of archives at another office.
