The Role
Really enjoyed my time at GSK. Learnt a lot and met a lots of people.
I got on really well with my department and with all the IPs. Gave a presentation that was open to the whole site and there were many people there who I had not met before so it was nice to know that people were interested in my work.
My supervisor was great answering all the questions I had and balancing on of y reports for Uni on top of his other work.
It varied day to day. At the beginnng there wasnt much to do but by the end of my placement there was lots to do.
I was given the responsibility of conducting all the practical work once Id been shown how and presenting my data to others and explaining how it fits in.
I learnt so much from my placement, from practical skills, presentation skills, analytical skiils. I think they will be useful to me this year and later in life.
The Company
My department were really nice and I got on well with everyone.
It was well organised. The only thing that I would make better is to arrange trips for students to see different aspects of GSK and also maybe a gathering of all the IP students so that would could all meet each other.
I learnt so much and these skills will be useful. Developed a lot of practical and interpersonal skills as well. Also had the opportunity to go to a conference which allowed me to interact with different people in the field and appreciate how broad the field was.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There are no schemes in place for Scientist graduates.
The Culture
Got on well with all the other IPs that were in Ware but didnt get much opportunity to meet students from other sites.
Not too bad.
Ware itself had very little nightlife but the surrounding areas were good.
The social club was good for providing extra activities.
