  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The teams in which I worked made me feel valued straight away. I was given responsibilities and support from the start, and was shown that my opinions and work could really make an impact. The wider business also clearly think highly of the interns, and make it easy to get involved in other aspects of the business.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone I spent time with throughout the internship was incredibly supportive. My manager and graduate buddy in particular were fantastic. They were always willing to help me and also challenge me, furthering my understanding of the investment management industry. I felt comfortable asking anyone for help at any time, whether that be work related or personal, there is always support available.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the whole I was consistently busy on most days. I never felt ran down with too much work, but also never felt like I had nothing to do. It is important to proactively seek work when things get more quiet, especially throughout the wider business and across different teams.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for a variety of tasks and projects throughout my internship. I was given the freedom to approach things how I liked, however I also knew I had an appropriate level of support available to me whenever I needed it. I never felt under pressure during these responsibilities, and felt comfortable collaborating with people across the business to ensure they were met.

  • The internship was ran extremely well. There were lots of networking events, insight sessions and intern socials, which all contributed to a truly enjoyable experience. • M&G see staff as their long term investment, and that mantra is clearly reflected in the time and knowledge they invested in us. Regular insight sessions allow anyone to develop their understanding of business areas. M&G are committed to training and development, and there are plenty of opportunities for interns to get involved with.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Graduate opportunities within M&G are very appealing. As interns we work closely with the current grads and therefore get a good insight into their life at M&G and the scheme itself. At the end of the internship assessment centres are held for those who wish to try and secure a graduate role.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social side of M&G was fantastic. The talent team provided five or six intern socials which included table tennis, pub quizzes and so on. These socials were a great platform to get to know interns in other departments, and make friends outside the work space. There are also social events across the business, which interns are more than welcome to get involved with.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London is expensive, however I never felt particularly stretched for money. The cost of socialising around London is also pricey but the city is fantastic and the experiences are mostly worth the money. M&G are very supportive by making their social events free of cost, and they usually include food/drink.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife around the City of London is pretty lively, Thursdays and Fridays especially. There are lots of upmarket bars around the City which are perfect for after work drinks. In terms of nightclubs there are more around Shoreditch, Clapham, Fulham and so on, all these places are easily reachable.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a variety of opportunities to get involved in outside of work at M&G. On a sporting note, a running club took place twice a week, as well as after work football on a Monday. Away from sport there was also a weekly coding club open to anyone, as well as photography sessions and art tours to name a few.
