The Role
I enjoyed the opportunities I was offered and the exposure to a working environment. I enjoyed some of the work I was offered, however I feel as though some of the work could have challenged me more.
Outside of a few in my team, other colleagues didn't make an effort to get to know me.
Whatever questions I had were answered by my manager or I was given someone else to talk to.
The work I was given did not mean I was rushed off my feet everyday. The timescale I was given was too long for the level of difficulty of the work, so most of the time I was able to take the day easy.
I was given opportunities to be given responsibility however it was not constantly/often.
Gave me experience and guidance of where I would like to work and what these types of working environments are like.
The Company
Not many people spoke to me or made effort to do so, so within my office the atmosphere was relatively dull.
The overall internship was organised very well. I like the structure of the development opportunities every week and the social events worked into the schedule. However, the work I was given over the internship was not necessarily organised well. I was given one over arching task to complete and any additional jobs were given to me on an ad hoc basis which I didn't enjoy as much
Time every week was dedicated to a different opportunity for development, including courses, talks from senior leaders and charity fundraisers. These were very well organised and one of the main selling points of the internship.

Often interns are offered a place on the graduate scheme once their placement ends. This is advertised as part of the package of the internship and the promise of discussion of this has been made clear.
The Culture
We were all put up in accommodation in the centre of the city so it was easy for us to meet up either after work or at weekends to go out for food/drinks. The weekly intern development sessions also meant that although we weren't all working together or in the same offices we could dedicate time every week getting to know each other.
Our accommodation was paid for so that took a huge amount of financial strain off us. However it is still Edinburgh and prices of food, socialising and traveling is still relatively pricy aside from the likes of London.
As the offices are all situated in the centre of Edinburgh the nightlife was great. Our apartments weren't too far from the city centre so it meant we were able to go out after work and the taxi wasn't too expensive or the walk not too long on the way home.
There wasn't many that wasn't planned by the interns themselves. A couple of drinks with grads and bowling events cropped up but most of the time activities outside of work were organised by the interns ourselves.
