The Role
I enjoyed the first couple of weeks, but thereafter I felt as if I wasn't being given work to do. This led me to picking up two other work streams and arranging shadowing - which I found very useful.
Colleagues asked for my opinion on topics and really liked the ideas I came up with. I was asked to take ownership of some of the ideas which I enjoyed.
Could have done with having much more work to do. Most days I was bored, with the odd days where I'd have lots of work to do. The cycle of this fluctuation continued.
I was tasked with communicating with colleagues and stakeholders, feeding back and then acting upon what I'd been told. The tasks I was set I was able to add my own ideas and for some tasks I took full ownership for and completed on my own.
Learnt lots about the financial sector and had very good advice for CV, applying for internships, interacting with colleagues etc. I now know what parts of the bank I wouldn't work in and what parts id like to explore further.
The Company
Manager was away across the country a lot so I worked with another team which I thoroughly enjoyed, After moving to the 8th floor with hot desking I couldn't continue sitting with them and so I felt isolated at times.
Actual Line manager based in Edinburgh so only had contact with him twice. New Line manager must not have been briefed about the programme - limited work set beforehand for the 10 weeks I would be working here.
Great experience to have an internship this early on and be exposed to this information and lifestyle. This is a great programme which I find very useful.
The Culture
Other interns/Lloyds scholars in my building were great fun as were many of them. There were a few who were very difficult to get along with.
Central London is much more expensive to greater London, but my colleagues would usually pay for coffees or if we went out for a drink.
