    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the first couple of weeks, but thereafter I felt as if I wasn't being given work to do. This led me to picking up two other work streams and arranging shadowing - which I found very useful.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues asked for my opinion on topics and really liked the ideas I came up with. I was asked to take ownership of some of the ideas which I enjoyed.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Could have done with having much more work to do. Most days I was bored, with the odd days where I'd have lots of work to do. The cycle of this fluctuation continued.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was tasked with communicating with colleagues and stakeholders, feeding back and then acting upon what I'd been told. The tasks I was set I was able to add my own ideas and for some tasks I took full ownership for and completed on my own.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learnt lots about the financial sector and had very good advice for CV, applying for internships, interacting with colleagues etc. I now know what parts of the bank I wouldn't work in and what parts id like to explore further.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Manager was away across the country a lot so I worked with another team which I thoroughly enjoyed, After moving to the 8th floor with hot desking I couldn't continue sitting with them and so I felt isolated at times.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Actual Line manager based in Edinburgh so only had contact with him twice. New Line manager must not have been briefed about the programme - limited work set beforehand for the 10 weeks I would be working here.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Great experience to have an internship this early on and be exposed to this information and lifestyle. This is a great programme which I find very useful.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Other interns/Lloyds scholars in my building were great fun as were many of them. There were a few who were very difficult to get along with.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is much more expensive to greater London, but my colleagues would usually pay for coffees or if we went out for a drink.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/A - did not participate

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
