The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement, hence the 8 stars. It was interesting and engaging and I was very lucky to have such a fun and proactive manager. Why I didn't give it a rating of 10 was the lack of concentration by Lloyds, on anything to do outside of the internship. The social life was hard especially in London and the accommodation wasn't what I expected, I wish they could put on a few more events for interns to socialise earlier on.
My colleagues were inclusive and very welcoming into the team. I never felt that I was not part of the team or just an intern. They have kept me busy and made sure I was always doing work that I felt was valuable to my development and to the company.
My manager has consistently supported me throughout the internship. Before I started she called me to fill me in on what she does and gave me a thorough insight into what my internship would look like. She has given me sufficient work and has never made me feel like I could not ask her questions about the work I was doing.
Very busy, which is what I wanted. I have had quite a few projects and feel that I have never really felt like I had to sit around doing nothing. The only issue is that sometimes I did feel too busy but I did have support from my colleagues, if I felt overwhelmed.
More responsibility than I thought. Throughout the internship I did hold a lot of responsibility, with myself sometimes heading my own projects single handedly. It was fantastic as I felt valued and I was kept very busy but sometimes I did think that I was a bit overwhelmed by the magnitude and the pressure that came with the work I was doing.
I think if anything, the skills I have gained will be those of professionalism and the attitude to work I have formed. I hope this will help me be more structure in my approach to uni life and work load as I feel like my past year at university hasn't been that easy and I have not tried as hard as I should have. However, I did not find much of the E-learning that came through from Emerging Talent helpful, if anything it was more of a time consuming hindrance.
The Company
The General atmosphere in my office is more of a professional one, where it was everyone wore suits every day etc. It has been a really friendly atmosphere with many people talking and socialising with each other. The fact there was a kitchen with free fruit and coffee on tap was an added bonus.
From speaking to other interns, my internship has probably been one of the best structured and organised. From day one I set u my laptop and phone and have been organised to have meetings with numerous people to ensure I have exposure. I couldn't fault my manager, especially on the organisation front.
Being a scholar the firm has invested a lot into me already. I feel valued and know that my development is of importance to them. Through paying for accommodation and paying us weekly it has made this internship possible for myself and has definitely showed my value to the bank.

Working from home
I expect to do a second internship next year and I will hopefully get onto the Grad scheme. So, hopefully my employment prospects are high in the firm as I am seriously looking at having a career in LBG.
The Culture
No, due to people living away and there being no social event organised by the group it has been hard to make friends properly. I would suggest Emerging talent organises a couple mixer events throughout that aren't centred around corporate activities, like a fun day or something that can get people talking as 10 weeks is a long time.
Expensive, but it is London! What can I expect?
It was really good but I chose not to really part take in it often as it is expensive and I would rather spend my days seeing things.
Not with the group but I knew there were things I could do all the time if I wanted to outside of work organised events
