The Role
Lloyds was an incredible atmosphere to work in. There were many supportive people and it was good experience joining the team. There was absolute incredible work life balance and I was able to make a valuable contribution to my team. Also my manager was very supportive brought out the best of me.
I felt very valued by my team. They appreciated that I came in not know everything and helped me develop until I was trusted to turn out vital pieces of work which was pivotal to my teams work. I was able to do the processes the team would usually carry out themselves which was good.
I was given a lot of support by the wider team. They gave step by step guidance at the beginning and made I was comfortable and knew what exactly needs doing and how to go about it. They gave great insights into how the business was run and there made it very good.
I was moderately busy on a day to day basis. After a few weeks of learning about the team and shadowing my line manager the rest of the internship was filled with work to be completed with a fair deadline. The tasks were of different length which kept me on my toes.
I was given a lot of responsibility on my work experience and I was able to take ownership of many monthly tasks. I was also given responsibility of chairing a monthly team meeting and was asked to create an agenda for the meeting. I was given very positive feedback for the meeting.
My skills in excel was massively developed during my time on the internship as I was able to do many tasks which were very intricate and therefore tested and improved my excel proficiency. I was learning things in excel that I was not taught in university and we were given overviews of the business areas.
The Company
The general atmosphere was amazing. After a few weeks it felt like I had been working in the team for a few years. There was a very supportive environment and very friendly place to be. You had the ability to approach any team member or any colleague in the office.
The overall work placement wasn't amazing organised. At the beginning it felt very of the cuff. there was a few organised skill sessions and therefore there seemed some sort of structure. However after a few days it felt as if you just go to your team and get on with it. Also, there was no organised insights in to different teams.
In terms of personal training there was very little.
Future employment looked very good. There looked to be very much space for hiring graduates. As I was a first year intern I couldn't get referred to the graduate scheme for next year as I would need to be a penultimate year student. However, I have the opportunity to come back next year.
The Culture
The social scene was a bit dead with colleagues as my colleagues are a lot older than me. Therefore, we had different methods of socialising. However with other interns there was a good social scene as most of the interns stayed at the same accommodation. Also there was a boat party.
cost of living was fine
I don't care about nightlife
