The Role
Overall I really enjoyed this internship and would recommend to those considering. I was placed within the Lloyds branch in Bath. The internship has been a great learning experience and I've been given lots of support throughout. The only real downside was the travelling distance to work. I was fortunate enough to be provided accommodation within UWE halls, however this meant an hour and a half commute twice a day. Towards the end of the internship I spent two days a week in the Bristol Cabot branch - this was much more convenient.
The team I joined was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I felt like a valuable part of the team very quickly.
My line manager gave me considerable support throughout the internship. He was approachable and always happy to help. When he was out of the office there was plenty of support from the other management members. I also had support from the Regional Director who gave me an individual project to complete.
Being within retail I was kept busy in the Banking Hall the majority of the day. I was also given personal development tasks and the charity challenge.
I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility. I was trusted to carry out various tasks for the bank independently, but nothing too overhwleming.
I've gained a better understanding of financial institutions and the world of banking. I've also developed many transferable skills for my future career, most notably in customer service and leadership.
The Company
I spent three weeks training before I could speak to customers. There was also continuous development tasks - both online and within the Banking hall.
Hoping to get onto the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Lots going on in Bristol, however the accommodation is quite far out.
