The Role
I think at the beginning of the internship I found it hard to get into the routine but once that initial struggle was over I found that I could actually understand parts of the work given to me and the parts I didn't were explained so clearly that it made the work more enjoyable to do.
I felt very comfortable with my team. I appreciated the fact that they invited me to their out of office events, this made me feel extremely valued by them. I also enjoyed how open I could be with them about my own personal life (small things like talking about my weekend or getting advice for the future).
I feel as though my colleagues struck a good balance between being supportive but also giving me a chance to be independent when it came to my work and projects.
Overall for the most part I did have enough to keep me occupied for either just that day or days at a time. There were only rare occasions that I felt as though I was 'too busy' or didn't have enough to do (but that was always quickly taken care of).
I felt as though I was given almost the same responsibility as a trainee would be, I was doing tasks and work that were actually important to the team and necessary to get done, which I really appreciated.
I have gained knowledge and skills that I feel that can use in the next few upcoming stages of my studies, career and most defiantly beyond. I have gained great insight on various work skills and general networking skills too.
The Company
The people in my office were very professional but still very relaxed too. They were never afraid to share a joke, have a laugh or just strike up interesting conversations. It made it interesting to come in everyday as I knew that I wouldn't really be bored in the office.
I think those that ran the internship did try to keep the line managers informed about key things but they didn't really inform them enough about what would be required of them through the internship as it ran on.
I would consider working within the organisation but I don't think I would want to come to work here straight away.
