The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship through a combination of the work I was given and also the staff around me. I was given a variety of work with a good level of responsibility which meant that I learnt a great deal. The staff on my floor and staff in general across the company were friendly and willing to help at all times.
My colleagues really took time to get to know me and to welcome me to Cushman & Wakefield. By the end of the internship they were keen to stay in touch and see how my career progresses. I left feeling like I couldn't have had a better team.
I was given strong support from both my line manager and my supervisor. They would both frequently check on how I was doing and I knew I could ask them a question at any time.
I do feel as though it was the perfect balance of working hard and still having time to get to know my team.
I was given a good level of responsibility performing tasks that had to be done well in a certain time frame or it could disappoint clients.
I will use the practical knowledge skills to assist in understanding modules and writing my dissertation. There are many other ancillary key skills that I learnt such as acting professionally in a corporate environment. These skills will help me when applying for graduate jobs in the future through making me more aware of the industry and how to conduct myself in interviews etc.
The Company
There was a good atmosphere and you could tell that everyone enjoyed working with each other. It was still a highly professional place of work however so it was not a constant party.
It was set up well and gave a good overview of the company through various training sessions. I think it gave a good amount of time for me to focus on my team and the work I was given while still having breaks to do training and socialize with the other interns. The only comment I can make is that I would've liked slightly more feedback at the end of my internship.
Training sessions were put on for us to learn about the firm but also to help us with personal development. We were given detailed advise on how to improve the way we work in order to benefit us in our careers.
Company Parties/Events
The firm left a good impression on me and I would certainly like to work for them in the future.
The Culture
There was a good social scene within the team and I attended a few social events which were great to get to know people better. The social scene between other interns was also good with the company putting on social events for us.
I was working in London so it was reasonably costly.
There are many pubs and bars which are busy most nights. Again it is good to see people from the office outside of work to chat to and to get to know each other better.
There are many opportunities in London and at the company I was working for. I was able to attend a young professionals networking event recommended by my company and if I had been working full time there would've been many longer term projects I could've got involved with.
