The Role
I had a 2-month summer internship at Bank of England. I've enjoyed it very much. Pros: People are very helpful Clear Guidance Insightful work Open office (The whole division is sitting together) Good & Valuable work Very nice food (Breakfast + Lunch) Nice tea and coffee Cons: Prepare to work hard
I felt my work has been really value by my colleagues. In the bank, you have to work collaborative to succeed, so everyone's contribution is important to the team. But do remember, value other people's contribution too, you cannot succeed without it.
Really helpful + insightful guidance, not only useful in work but useful for future career advancement too.
I work from 9:30am to 18:00. The working hours are quite flexible, but you do have to work hard during your time there. I am occupied with tasks almost all day everyday.
A lot. Really enjoyable experience, learned a lot. I got given the opportunity to work with other teams and on different research project.
I have developed many skills during my 2-month. The kind of skills that cannot be developed in school!
The Company
Excellent, open office. Everyone is busy, but willing to devote their time to answer you queries.
Depends on your team and division. But generally organised, could be improved however.
Everyone invested a lot of their working time to help me settle and get it going. The Bank also has different staff training sessions and seminars.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
very appealing, all interns would love the opportunity to come back and work for the Bank.
The Culture
Yes, organised intern lunch, drink and social every fortnight.
No idea about that, a pint of beer cost a pint of beer, same as everywhere else.
No idea too, I am not into night clubs unfortunately.
Yeah, if you want to social with others, you can social with others.
