The Role
The difficulty in tasks increased as I spent more time with the team and became more acquainted with the sort of tasks they complete. I felt like I was contributing to the team and the work they do. My team was incredibly friendly and made my whole experience even better
My colleagues treated me with the upmost kindness and helped me grow. They never made me feel like I was asking a silly question and helped me develop but also gave me the independence needed to explore the role
If there wasn't a manager or director to help, there was a grad or an associate. I never felt a shortage of help and knew there was always someone there if I got stuck
Each day varied. I could go 75% of the day quite relaxed then all of a sudden have 3 urgent tasks to do before leaving, or I could have a consistently quiet or busy day
I was given ownership of a number of tasks in my team. I also had to step up to act as out of office when half of my team went on holiday meaning I was given much more responsibility than initially planned
My time keeping and maintenance skills have increased tremendously I have also learned how to work best in different roles and levels within team working I have also been more clear in my expression as the work place requires more precise and direct communication
The Company
There was a very good balance of seriousness and fun I was invited along to the out of work events a few times too which added to the friendly ambience
I was able to shadow a different team to first intended and the work I was given was responsive to the effort/work I put out There was a nice natural flow of responsibility and work
We had some online training as well as a sector induction day but most of the development was self taught/by my team
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I'm on a scholarship with the company so will have to do a second internship before anything is offered
The Culture
It was okay. I got on with the interns on my floor but it wasn't like other departments where there were scheduled events for the interns
I worked in London and the accommodation was paid for. However it was not that easy to socialise due to the way the accommodation was set up and I found myself wanting alone time after work so didn't socialise as much as I should have. However, the company did put on a boat party which was very fun
It was good from what I experienced. A good variety of things to do
There were opportunities but I didn't really get involved
