The Role
Overall, I really did enjoy my internship. I had fantastic opportunities to work alongside both other interns, and full employees of the company and this gave the work great variety. My team were also incredibly welcoming, and so made it easy for me to have an enjoyable time despite not knowing many in my area.
All colleagues were incredibly eager to help, and were generous despite their busy schedules to assist me in any way possible. I was made to feel as part of the team, being offered to experience a true taste of the sector rather than just being asked to photocopy & make tea.
I was given weekly meetings with my manager to discuss my development and explore further opportunities within my 8 weeks. While I was pushed to independently discover my future, any queries or questions were answered and my manger was more than happy to listen to any concerns I had with the internship.
I had multiple projects going on throughout the internship, and was never too busy or bored. This was on a variety of topics and with a variety of people, so it made every day different. However, this did largely depend on how proactive you were as a person, as it would be possible to do not a lot.
A fair bit but not too much that it was concerning.
I have learnt so much in the 8 weeks, probably more than I have learnt in 2 years at university. Not only does this include financial skills such as account analysis, but also just general soft skills such as dealing with others in the office. I can confidently shake hands now.
