The Role
My placement was made very enjoyable due to my team being incredibly welcoming any friendly to me. I was always given work to do that felt meaningful, not just for the sake of keeping me busy. I found learning everything very interesting and was able to ask questions whenever, which I very much appreciated. The environment is very friendly despite everyone being busy.
I feel particularly valued by all my colleagues. They are all appreciative of anything I do for them and always find the time to provide me with feedback on what I have done, which is very helpful to me. I felt like I could to talk to anyone in my team about anything and would be listened to, and I feel I have learnt a lot from being in their presence. Cameron was an excellent line manager, he would always find time to speak to me and kept me very busy, which was great. Nicola was also a great mentor, finding time to have weekly 121's with me as well as really helping with my development in speaking about myself. Heather has also been someone I felt like I could go to about anything, her feedback is always very helpful and I have enjoyed working closely with her for more than the 2 weeks I was meant to spend in Governance and Policy. She always listened to my ideas and has been very patient with all the questions I ask. Pam has been a particular admirable figure for me during my time here, as she is in a very senior role, and is very impressive, but always seems approachable and friendly. It has been great to have exposure to her. I haven't worked very much directly with Ali but he has still always tried to answer any question I ask, and has offered support whenever, such as to link me to a particular interest I have found, and I have appreciated his company. The whole of the ERO team has been excellent to work with.
I have had a plethora of support and guidance throughout my internship, from weekly 121's with Nicola and bi-weekly 121's with Cameron, to email and verbal feedback after every piece of work I complete, which has been one of the biggest beneficial factors to my development.
I have been kept very busy throughout my internship, at times there are lulls in the work, but I think that is more the nature of work rather than a lack of work being assigned to me.
I have felt that I have made contributions to the final product of everything that I have submitted, which has been very gratifying for me. Constant feedback has led me to develop my confidence in what I submit, how I structure and write packs, and in my drafting of notes. chairing the monthly team meeting stands out to me as piece of particular responsibility that has been an excellent experience in taking the lead on.
I think everything I have taken on during my time at Lloyds is easily transferrable to all aspects of my life, particularly once I start work, as I have never worked in corporate environment such as this before.
The Company
The office is relatively quiet, which does help with getting work done, but everyone has been welcoming and interesting to me.
My team, particularly Nicola, has been very organised and kept an excellent arc throughout my placement. It has always been clear what I was going to be doing and Nicola has actively pursued avenues for me to shadow and gain exposure to, which I very much appreciate.
National Travel
I think i would enjoy working for Lloyds.
The Culture
Having all the interns living together has created a great social scene, where there is always something to do and someone to do it with.
All accommodation was paid for, which was a positive, the city is expensive but as expected as it is a capital.
