The Role
- Overall very happy with the work intensity, the very friendly environment, the learning opportunities I was given, and the exposure to senior management through the Managing Director/Director meeting initiative.
- A good relationship with my colleagues, especially when it comes to helping each other, but given the short period of my internship (4 months). I feel like I didn't have much time to get to know them better (I still have 1 month though).
- I was provided with strong support throughout the internship. My management assigned a group of colleagues from different teams for me to ask for assistance, and I was continuously provided with guidance from my supervisors.
- Quite busy, mainly because of the project difficulty, but it was still manageable.
- My internship project is a very ambitious one! In fact, it's quite an open research subject, and could lead to great results for index construction.
- I've learned a lot about portfolio optimization, signal processing, and various statistical techniques. I also had a chance to learn more about the financial markets and the structuring business. Which are all skills very relevant to my studies and and my career views.
The Company
- An overall very friendly, positive, and engaging work environment.
- The internship set up took quite a time, but everything aside from that was well organized.
- The training program for summer and off-cycle interns was very start, with a detailed view on each business area within Barclays. and valuable knowledge about markets. The Speaker series and Prime University were very educational as well.

Working from home
- The organization provides enough flexibility for employees to have a look and gain valuable experience from various sides of the business.
