The Role
Enjoyable - plenty of scope to attend interesting talks and events, even if they weren't directly related to my work.
Colleagues were interesting in my work, gave useful comments, and scheduled meetings with me so that I could show them what I'd done in more detail.
My manager gave me strong development advice each week, however in terms of my work I had a lot of freedom regarding what I was doing. This flexibility suited me but might not suit everyone.
Quiet at the beginning of the internship, but after a couple of weeks I had more than enough valuable work to keep me occupied. At the same time I never felt pressure to work longer hours than I wanted to.
After the initial period I gained significant responsibility and was responsible for designing and developing major tools.
I learnt good coding, statistics and general office skills, however I would have liked more opportunities to develop my economics skills too.
The Company
Wasn't like a library, with plenty of discussions going on. Not too loud to concentrate though.
Very well organised once I arrived. The application and security process was however too late and my internship was only confirmed a couple of weeks before I started.
Significantly - I was always encouraged to attend training and development events, even when they weren't directly relevant to my current work. Colleagues from across the bank were also always happy to chat about their careers with me over a coffee.

Provided you do well in the internship you are likely to receive a job offer for afterwards.
The Culture
Yes - the interns had lunch together almost everyday and we organised social events for after work.
Central London... so very expensive.
Plenty of bars - didn't experience any clubs. Expensive though.
No.
