    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great learning experience with the possibility of getting exposure to various teams. You can figure out during the internship what sector or product team you like best and make a well thought choice who to join afterwards in case of an offer. Because of that, I enjoyed the variety of the work I was able to do and of the people I was able to work with.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Full-time colleagues, no matter their seniority would make time for you and juniors would spend vast amounts of time explaining you things and helping you out on problems you might experience. Colleagues often made an effort to include you as much as possible in the projects and tried to introduce you to other people within the bank.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Realistically, the most guidance and support you get is from juniors, who have bene in your shoes recently. They will spend hours and hours of explaining you things and were very happy to help us interns out. Seniors and mentors also contributed to this development, albeit on a more birdseye level, giving you advice on what people you should meet, what your key working points are etc.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In general, great balance. Your staffer would often check your capacity and be "on your side" and make sure you get enough exposure and enough to do, without being too busy. Inevitably, being the summer season with less work and a lot of interns, there were some days where there was not so much to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility given at BofAML was higher than expected. You get to develop the stories of pitches from scratch in cooperation with senior people, and also get a fair amount of exposure on live deals where you can contribute to materials that are critical in the process. Most interns do not get client contact however.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills you learn at BofAML are very useful and applicable in a lot of future career paths you might endeavour on. Ranging from good time management skills you learn as you're combining several staffings, over more technical modelling skills you acquire, I feel that the skillset learnt here is of great value.
