The Role
The internship was a great experience - a great taster into what its like working in a professional environment. We had a great opportunity to speak to senior colleagues as well as meeting with other interns.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. Colleagues were happy to free up their time to have a coffee and explain their roles.
Great support was given by management - they were always happy to provide feedback on the work you have done.
Usually we were given a project to complete over an extended period of time. So some of the day was taken up by completing this project, having meetings/networking with colleagues, attending team meetings/calls. We also had a group project to work on over the 8 weeks so we would have project meetings.
Responsibility varied from contacting research teams to updating spreadsheets of high importance to be sent out to the rest of the team.
Time management, email etiquette, how to communicate on a professional level - will all be valuable in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in our office was lively and friendly - colleagues interact with each other.
The internship was well structured; starting with a general induction session, regular speaker series, mid and final internship reviews - which helps with personal development.
The first day was an induction session whereby we went over general tips for the rest of the internship such as networking. We had a presentation skills session a few weeks in, in order to prepare for our final group presentation on the last week.
Company Parties/Events
There is an opportunity for interns to follow onto the Graduate Development Programme which shows how invested the organisation is on helping individuals grow.
The Culture
During the first week of the internship, we had a social (Ping Pong) which helped break the ice and socialise with the other interns.
As we were based in London, it was relatively expensive but we did have opportunities to social and have drinks after work.
London nightlife is good in general.
There were socials outside of working hours, but not aware if any other activities took place.
