The Role
I learned a lot, worked a great variety of topics and had the opportunity to meet many people. However, I felt a bit stressed by the overall challenging environment - although it is worth having. But I had in general a great experience here.
My colleagues were always available and friendly. I think that the language barrier (I'm French) may have made it slightly more difficult for me to integrate quickly in the team. Besides, my internship was quite short - only two months - so it was difficult to get to know everyone in that short time frame. But in my day to day work, I felt valued by my colleagues.
I always got support or guidance whenever I needed it.
I never felt bored during my internship. I always had something to do, a training to attend or somebody to take a coffee with. The amount of work seemed sometimes overwhelming, but my managers were always understanding and quite flexible.
As an intern, it is hard to have responsibilities. However, I've been asked to write a full research report, which was really exciting and enabled me to learn loads of things.
I think I learned as much in 2 months as in a regular 6-months internship. I've had the opportunity to work on modelling, building investment cases and to discover many different industries. The internship also enabled me to put into practice what I had learned at school, which helped me to know what topics I'm good at and which ones I should work on. Finally, I think that this internship prepared me well to the "business life" (how to network, how to manage my time, how to prioritize tasks, how to communicate with my managers, etc.).
