The Role
To quite a large extent I did enjoy my internship. We got to do a lot of fun activities and I met a lot of amazing, bright people at the bank. There were definitely some really challenging points but the experience was so valuable and HR made a huge effort to make it enjoyable where they could.
Both teams I sat on for my rotations were genuinely amazing. I formed some really close bonds with people on both teams and they made me feel very comfortable during my time on their desk. They were super enthusiastic about helping me understand what they did & facilitating my networking on the floor.
I was given a lot of support by management & my supervisors.
Some days I didn't have very much to do besides network but other days I was extremely busy and often felt close to overwhelmed
I wasn't given a huge amount of responsibility but I think it was appropriate for me.
The skills I have developed I genuinely believe are invaluable from soft skills to my technical skills. It has given me more of an idea of what I want to study during my final year and I believe it has prepared me for being in a corporate environment and making the most of that.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally so relaxed and friendly. Everyone seems to get on really well with their teams and enjoy their time at work (unless they're under work stress of course)
Pretty well organised. We had set mandatory sessions and intern events that we always knew of well ahead of time. Everything was very well communicated through email
I felt invested in to a very large extent whilst on my internship and I think the same would be said for everyone else. This is super important because not everyone will be taken on as a grad yet I would argue that everyone was invested in equally without trying to anticipate where interns would likely end up.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I would definitely like to be employed by this company in future. I really enjoyed my time here and the people that I met even more importantly.
The Culture
I definitely made more friends than I expected to on this internship. Everyone was really friendly and it didn't get as competitive as I would have expected things to be. People always made a lot of effort to try and help each other where possible.
Food is not very cheap in the area as it ranges from affordable to relatively expensive
I didn't go out much during my internship so I can't offer much there
Not a huge amount that I was aware of but I would imagine there were sum
