The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship, it was a lot better than I was expecting. I've learnt so much in my 10 weeks here, a lot more than I thought I would and a lot quicker too. I've met some really amazing people at Nomura too.
Everyone at Nomura was extremely welcoming and helpful, always available to have a chat. My team in particular were great, they made sure I was as comfortable as possible and would always offer help. My mentor helped greatly too, helping me build connections.
Every step of the way! My manager, buddy and everyone in my team provided me with support and guidance. Making sure I was always busy and offering help when needed. Just being there for general questions. My mentor was great in helping me build connections with other people in the firm and just having someone to talk to.
My task was well planned out by my manager and team before I even started, so I was never bored or waiting for work to be assigned to me. I was not too busy either as I was allowed time to shadow other members of the firm and attend extra curricular activities e.g. public speaking
I was in charge of creating a new page for the teams GUI as well as smaller general tasks. I think I was given as much responsibility as I was expecting.
I have genuinely learnt so much during my time here. I think all of the skills that I have developed, I will be taking forward and implementing during my final year of uni as well as after. For example, general coding skills and the technologies that I have learnt to use at Nomura. I also feel my confidence has grown whilst being at Nomura which is definitely something that will stay with me.
The Company
General atmosphere was great. Everyone was extremely friendly and would be happy to offer advice and help. It's not too loud on my floor either, so was easy to concentrate too.
Extremely well organised! My team in particular had everything planned for me before I started, made sure my desk was ready, my computer, all the software I needed. HR were also very organised, making sure we had talks from different teams, making sure we got the training we needed(first week)
My team invested a lot of time to ensure I make the most out of my internship, eager to help and keep me learning everyday. My mentor invested a lot of time trying to find people that I could talk to that align with my interests.

I have definitely seen that it is possible to progress once you have joined Nomura, I have also noticed that it is possible to move between roles which is probably why a lot of colleagues at Nomura have been here for many years as it keeps your job fresh.
The Culture
Thursday drinks were nice as it allowed us to interact more as interns as well as with other colleagues especially if they work on a different floor to you. So the drinks were a good networking session.
As I live in London, I'm used to the cost of living in this area so for me personally, it wasn't surprising.
It's London, so the nightlife is pretty good.
There are many extra curricular activities that Nomura host. My favourite being public speaking. It's very easy to join different clubs/societies as everyone is very welcoming and eager for you to join.
