About You
I very much enjoyed my time spent at RPC, it was well organised and provided a good overview of the work and staff at the firm. My time spent on the desk was enjoyable and I was able to get involved with a variety of different projects, working with a variety of different people. The social events were a good way to break the ice between both other vac schemers and the trainees and helped to create the friendly atmosphere.
I was made to feel very well-valued during my time spent at RPC. Everyone that I interacted with was extremely friendly and welcoming, making me feel like part of the team. I really appreciated the fact that senior staff had taken time out of their busy schedules to talk with us, demonstrating how important junior recruits are to the firm.
Guidance was provided right from the beginning. Staff who set us various tasks and activities were quick to offer feedback, and feedback sessions with supervisors at the end of each week allowed a chance to discuss strengths and areas of improvement. Furthermore, I found the Recruitment Team particularly supportive throughout the scheme.
The skills I have developed will certainly help me in the future and the knowledge I gained will be invaluable at future interviews and assessment centres. Furthermore, the legal research skills I developed have proved invaluable in helping me on my return to university, particularly in reading court judgments and sifting through legal journals.
The Company
I found the summer scheme at RPC to be very well organised and the structure of the scheme was great. We were placed into 2 different seats over the 2 weeks and the firm took my preferences into account. Furthermore, there were plenty of networking opportunities to learn more about the firm's other departments and the structure meant I was able to get the most out of this scheme.
The general atmosphere was really friendly! Everyone was extremely welcoming and staff often approached me in the office to ask me how I was doing, with I thought was really nice! There was a non-competitive atmosphere amongst the other interns, making it easy to make friends and we would often socialise together at lunch and in the evenings!
There was a strong focus on our personal development at RPC and I believe that the firm heavily invested in each and everyone of us. We had formal feedback sessions, giving us the tools to improve and work on our weaknesses for the 2nd week. Managers provided us with comprehensive feedback, and trainee buddies were supportive and provided advice to help us develop throughout.
The summer scheme certainly helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role. With so many different opportunities on offer, it truly highlighted the things which you would get to carry out as a trainee. The huge focus on the investment of teaching was evident throughout, with everyone from trainees to partners getting involved with the sessions on offer.
The summer scheme truly showed that RPC is a friendly place to work, with a supportive and welcoming atmosphere! Everyone was so willing to speak to you and really took an interest in not only the work which you were carrying out, but also in you as an individual. This too was shown in the level of support on offer for all members of staff, with a huge focus being placed on the well being of employees.
Having the opportunity to spend two weeks on the summer scheme, the day to day tasks really informed me as to whether I enjoyed the typical roles of a trainee. All of the tasks we were given are typical of the work that trainees undertake, therefore I gained a very clear idea of the type of work I would be doing if I were to continue with this career path. This summer scheme has solidified my intentions to pursue a career in this field, moreover at RPC.
Everything Else
I was paid generously for my time spent on the summer scheme at RPC.
Yes, there were plenty of networking opportunities on this summer scheme.

Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for employees to get involved in activities outside of work.
