    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. Was given a lot of responsibility from the start. Received consistent support from everyone I worked with. It was a very welcoming environment too, I felt I could ask questions and speak to all members of the team. It did not feel as if there was a hierarchy

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of my colleagues gave me consistent and positive feedback throughout the internship. They made sure that I felt valued and that my work was appreciated. This was useful as a new intern as it encouraged me to work hard knowing that it will be recognised. This was even the case with senior members

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They were all very focused on my personal development. They made sure that I was trying to meet my objectives. Whenever I was unsure about anything, I would be provided with support and help, even if my supervisor had a busy project on. Helped me integrate into the team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work varies quite a lot. Some days you would be very busy while on other days there would not be too much going on. In general, the working hours are good. PwC places great importance in flexible working. Many team members work from home and choose their working hours freely.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was very surprised by how much responsibility and trust I was given at the beginning. I did not have much confidence in my abilities and what I could do. But by being given actual work and responsibility from the start, I was able to quickly gain this confidence and learn.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed many skills throughout the internship which I didn't expect. For instance, I am much better at excel which will help me with basic organisation at university too. I improved my STATA skills which will help with my thesis. Also presentation skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team, sharing ideas.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was pleasantly surprised by how approachable everyone in the office was. Everyone gets along, light-hearted and friendly atmosphere. The desks are quite collaborative and encourage working together. Most team members have a great sense of humour and willing to engage in interesting discussions throughout the day. Integrated the interns very well.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was great organisation with the training at the start. The times were flexible and could be re-arranged depending on our schedules e.g. some of us had graduations to go to. Frequent meetings with the manager who was in charge of us to make sure we are on track too.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested us in many ways. Firstly, through training outside of the office or a few days in a hotel. This allowed us to integrate better into the team while also learning a lot. Then, training via tailored sessions more specific to the work we will be doing. In terms of development, by the many socials which we had, we were able to develop our confidence

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Once receiving the internship, it is a lot easier to be offered a graduate job if you work hard and get good feedback. Then, once employed, there are many opportunities for promotion. There is a variety of work. Also many people find that they would prefer to work in different departments and the transfer there would be easier than applying from the beginning.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. We all got along very well and all had similar personalities. Within the first few days, we had become very close friends and went out for dinners, drinks and to different activities together. We will definitely remain friends and look forward to working with these people in the future.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so for me the cost of living was not the issue - however travelling into central London is generally expensive. From friends and colleagues though, I have heard its quite expensive to live in this area so the best bet would be student accommodation. Socialising is good but also more expensive as it is London after all.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
