The Role
Slight mismatch between the skills required of me and the skills I already possessed, but a thoroughly worthwhile experience which enabled me to learn new skills.
Really happy with the extent I was valued by colleagues.
Intermittent support by supervisors, but then again my project required a sufficient amount of trial and error and self learning.
Busy enough. Some days were slow if I was stuck on a problem.
My line manager gave me my own project which was fantastic.
Introduction to coding which will help with my Master's degree and certainly beyond that. Team work / interpersonal skills learned were invaluable.
The Company
Pleasant and relatively hardworking. Plenty of collaboration which required a good atmosphere.
Reasonably well organised. Sometimes those organising the internship didn't always liaise with those in charge of me but both sides communicated with me very well.
Invested a sufficient amount of time but little financial investment.
Sports and Social Club
Thoroughly appealing, though perhaps not with this business area. Would recommend the organisation.
The Culture
All fellow interns lived together in University accommodation which allowed for a real bonding. Colleagues went out for drinks after work when the World cup was on.
Probably as expensive as you could get outside of London. Sufficient pay from organisation though.
Really good. I worked out of the Bristol office which is located near plenty of pubs and bars. Slightly expensive but plenty of variety.
Football and a pub crawl. Played football at least once a week at lunch as well as the odd 11-a-side game after work. This created a real bond between those who participated.
