    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was great. I have quite enjoyed it even though it finished quickly. 9 weeks went by so fast. Took part in daily meetings, met Directors and Managing Director within the company and made a lot of friends among the interns. Nice experience and would definitely consider Barclays a top employer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued, my team is a team of professionals but they still helped me a lot and explained things in a nice and understanding manner. We had lunch together weekly and also had catch-up meetings twice a week. They are very sociable and had discussion who do not relate to work at all.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I had a question, problem or something I did not understand properly I just went to my supervisors and talked about it. They gave me relevant examples and showed me what my work actually contributes to. Whenever I felt too overwhelmed or had finished my tasks I just went to them and had a talk.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy, working on a couple of projects. Apart from that I took part in various HR meetings and training sessions with the other interns. The schedule I think was alright and not too overwhelming. I think it is important to have a good balance when you are at work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had quite the responsibility and I was given the chance to complete my project in the manner I have wanted. I was asking for support when I needed to but most of the time all of the design decisions and coding manner was strictly decided by me. Cool stuff.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They have helped me a lot. It was different than what I did at university. It was a different environment, I was working on a live project who would later be used and also had presentations on WebEx with the rest of the global team. It was an amazing experience.
