    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A brilliant place to work with a great culture

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Fantastic support system from team members and staff

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All queries were answered thoroughly - made the settling in process 10x easier

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The perfect balance - enough to learn about the operations of the bank and daily activities, but not too much to completely drain you and isolate you from the outside world

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • More than I expected which was a positive aspect - more responsibility made me really get stuck into the daily operations of the team

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Arguably learnt more about banking and working in general in these last 8 weeks than in a few years of education! Was extremely invaluable

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Extremely positive - fun work environment with the opportunity to mingle and network with others to learn more about their roles and influence on the banks daily operations. Also a great work ethic - the desire to get tasks complete in a timely and organised manner really gave me a new insight

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Definitely pretty organised before hand - took a few days definitely to get things going and set up personal accounts and software access, but the structure of the internship /placement was clear from the start. Weekly updates from the graduate team/HR really made it easier to keep up to date with future events

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was asked to share my academic skills with my management team early on in the process, and the structure of the internship was a great balance between finding out what I personally want to gain and learn from the experience (which roles) as well as where I can add significant value in the bank

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After speaking to previous graduates recently and hearing about their positive impacts and experiences they have had with the organisation, I can definitely say that it would be a fantastic fit to work in upon completion of university, with great facilities to embed you quickly into the regime and scheme

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Definitely - there were many social events organised early on in the internship, during the first few weeks, to allow interns/colleagues from different divisions and backgrounds to network and learn about each others roles. This allowed us to build strong connections with each other and this was carried out throughout the 8 weeks where we organised socials.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf and London in general is fairly expensive however the facilities, restaurants and areas to socialise are well kept and tidy, great atmosphere in Canary Wharf with everyone basically working in the financial services industry. Cost of travel can be quite high if travelling to outskirts of the city.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf and London in general is fairly expensive however the nightlife areas are brilliant. Only went once with fellow interns and graduates/colleagues but the experience is definitely worth it.. if it's a Friday of course! can get a little busy and over crowded however great experience overall. definitely recommended

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Every Friday on a weekly basis the graduate recruitment team/HR department would send us an email highlighting events and activities that would be taking place in the area the following week. These were extremely varied and different on a weekly basis and gave us an opportunity to explore and engage in different activities

    5/5
