The Role
I enjoyed the placement very much, since it was well organised with a good balance of work, training, intern events and learning sessions.
I felt valued and respected; line of business were very welcoming and happy to help whenever they can.
There was a good system of support in terms of an assigned buddy, mentor, supervisor and manager who are approachable if you had any concerns or questions.
Usually there will be tasks and online training to complete. However, during less busy periods, I took the opportunity to network with other areas of the line of business, other than my team to get exposure all around.
I was given a decent level of responsibility through tasks. But we were not qualified enough to take on huge amounts of responsibility, thus some work involved shadowing to learn more about our division and its processes.
Communication with all levels of management and networking skills developed throughout the internship will greatly benefit me in the future.
The Company
The office atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and welcoming.
The internship was organised well with a variety of things like training, impressive intern events, volunteering opportunities and learning sessions.
The firm invested a lot in terms of general and business specific training. During the initial week, all the interns completed a two day financial products training, while throughout the internship weekly learning sessions were held to broaden our banking knowledge.
Good career prospects with graduate programme and beyond.
The Culture
I was part of a very social division and intern class.
Commuted from home.
Many opportunities to volunteer or take part in social or sports clubs within work existed.
