The Role
Really enjoyed meeting so many new people. The summer intern cohort was diverse meaning I met many people from many different countries and background.
In my first rotation I produced a few pieces of work that were used by the team so saved them time, therefore I felt like I added some kind of actual value. However in my 2nd rotation it was much harder for me to add value as their jobs/roles were extremely technical so I tried to look at it as more of a learning experience. Fitted in both teams really well and got on brilliantly with everyone but struggled to feel valued all the time
Varied support depending on how busy they were. Both manager's were willing to put time into help me learn, which I am grateful for. Both my managers were extremely knowledgeable and has huge amounts of experience between them. It was great being able to spend so much time around them to try and learn as much as possible.
Very little genuine/necessary responsibility. It wouldn't be possible/realistic to give us too much actual responsibility as we had almost no technical training, had no experience with any of the company systems
The most important skill I feel I've learned is how to communicate in a more professional manager. Communication in the workplace compared to university can be a lot more formal, but it took me a few weeks to really appreciate this. Secondly, in the preparation for a presentation to senior management my confidence in my own presenting skills increased hugely. Whilst giving the actual presentation, I realised I genuinely enjoyed communicating with the audience what I had learned. mtn I've also developed a basic level of excel skill, which I will definitely need to keep improving going forwards.
The Company
Nice atmosphere. Good balance between work and banter.
Very well organised.
They invested a good amount. However I definitely needed more adequate technical training before entering the office, as I often struggled to add genuine value to the team.
Sports and Social Club
Loved the environment. Excited to hopefully come back and start my career here.
The Culture
