The Role
This internship has aided me in my development, where I have been able to build up a better understanding of Business Risk within Retail Banking. It has also provided me with an insight into numerous business areas and has allowed me to gain exposure to parts of the bank that were of interest to me. I was fortunate enough to work with colleagues across the Group, travelling to offices in Cardiff and Leeds, both of which were extremely valuable experiences for myself.
My line manager constantly guided me in my progression, constantly tailoring this internship towards my interests so I can make the most out of this programme. It was all very inclusive, as my other colleagues that I worked closely with on a day-to-day basis were great in including me throughout. Even colleagues that I had brief interactions with made me feel valued when working alongside them.
As mentioned previously, I was supported throughout to aid me in my progression as an Intern. I have been offered great guidance through and through to help me with my work. I was also very comfortable in asking for help as my line manager had made it clear from the very beginning that he would help with any of my queries.
I had the perfect balance of work load. Both in variance and volume.
As an Intern, I feel I was given the right amount of responsibility. Seeing as I was working here for a 10 week placement, I could only take on certain roles. This being said, I had responsibility for a number of tasks, a lot of which I didn't think would have been given to me initially as I was just an intern. However, I was immediately welcomed as a like-minded colleague so it was a great learning experience having different responsibilities for different tasks.
I have developed skills and gained exposure to countless areas of the business which will stay with me in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office I was in was focused and had a great buzz. Everyone was concentrated on their work yet still had time to stop and talk for small doses throughout the working day. The building I was in had a great balance and pushed you to achieve more.
The internship process on a whole was seamless. My line manager had created a 10 week plan so I was constantly involved in different work throughout my placement. The Emerging Talent Team sent out updates each week focusing on a new theme, which pushed interns to learn more about the bank and the industry.
I had all the opportunities to develop both within my stream and outside of it. I was able to travel across the country to have training and experience what other offices were like. My manager provided me with a variety of projects to work on. I was able to shadow colleagues across the group in different business areas and receive overviews from them to develop my understanding.

Having had a great experience within Business Risk at Lloyds Bank so far, future employment prospects are very appealing.
The Culture
Decent balance between work and social with fellow interns and scholars.
Pretty expensive as the office is in London, so higher than average costs were expected.
